Utah Wedding Venue’s TUESDAY TIP – Get Organized

As soon as possible, a wise bride will first focus on getting her wedding plans organized. Get your smartphone organized right off the bat as you plan for your wedding reception!  Before you are tempted to visit all the many utah wedding venues to find that perfect one, some brides find it very useful and less confusing to create a special email address dedicated to only your wedding communications.  As you search for wedding venues in Utah or cake designers or whatever vendor you are needing, they can communicate directly with that designated email address.  Create those folders and sections on your phone to hold all the vendor names, phone numbers, addresses, and details that you will be gathering for the next several months.  Remember to take photos of those cake designs or floral arrangements that you hope to be replicated for your own wedding celebration.

Some brides still find it useful to use the old style paper file or three-ring binder.  Have pockets to place photos and ideas that you come across.  Tear sheets from magazines you want vendors to see!  A picture is indeed worth a thousand words, especially when you can leave an actual photo with the vendor so they have a reference photo when they create your cake, or floral arrangement, or dress, etc.

Your wedding ceremony and reception will be a lot less stressful if you will take a few moments in the beginning to get organized and stay organized.  Also, some wedding venues Salt Lake City offers like Atrium Weddings provide wedding planners that will help you with the details you need to remember for the celebration at their wedding venue.

Forget-Me-Not Reception Centers in Utah – Real Event 05-21-14

Forget-me-not weddings Utah will rememberAt one of our reception centers in Utah, Forget-me-not flowers surrounding the “Around You” Willow Tree Cake Topper sent a powerful romantic message to all the attending guests at Atrium Weddings.  This is Western Gardens reception venue that has an indoor garden ambiance without the worry of the weather!

Their cake was simple yet made a powerful statement.  Here basic white two tiered cake with tantalizing dripping chocolate fondant, was created by Sugar Kisses Cakes.  It was topped with a beautiful Willow Tree figurine by Susan Lordi.   As one of the artist’s Cake Topper collection called “Around You”, it was perfect for this cake poised amid dainty little forget-me-not flower blooms.  The flower blooms are a pretty blue that tied in with Kaitlyn’s choice of Royal Blue table linens.  With a touch of yellow daisies, this indoor garden reception venue was a beautiful and inviting celebration for all the attending guests.

Color, color, color!  Wedding reception venues in Utah like Atrium weddings, allow brides to use their own florists, cake designers, and caterers for their wedding receptions. This bride introduced to Atrium the most vibrant color scheme to our wedding venue in the last seven years of countless celebrations.  The striking blue delphiniums and hydrangeas, coral and pink roses, yellow freesias and hydrangeas, deep orange alstroemeria, bright purple stocks, and lemon leaf greens came together to dazzle the eye.

This color pallet was carried throughout the wedding reception hall with similar floral arrangements on the guest sign-in table and the beautiful flowers placed on the wedding cake.  The bride’s cake was a three tiered simple smooth white cake with tiffany blue satis ribbons accenting around the base of each tier.  Simple and so elegant!

The bride chose Atrium’s tall silver candle stick centerpiece, which is one of the choices that comes with the basic rental package, which was placed in the middle of a lemon leaf wreath. Additional flowers of the same scheme were placed around and throughout the lemon leaves.

Popular Sliders at Utah WeddingsWedding reception centers in Utah like Atrium Weddings have as many unique weddings as there are brides.  Our Atrium bride Audrey had some very unique ideas and we deem them definitely worth highlighting.  Hopefully her ideas will inspire you with some of your own and help you with your wedding plans for your Utah wedding.

Sliders from Utah Celebrations

An increasingly popular menu for Utah wedding venues has been Sliders and Fries by one of our preferred caterers Utah Celebrations.  These tasty little hamburgers are fresh from the grill but are not a big full meal.  They are indeed just the right size to slide down and still have room for some fresh fries and some wedding cake.  Utah Celebrations also brought one of their signature fruit platters that went right along with the meal.

Delicious Homemade Family Favorite Cookies

A unique thank you for the guests at wedding reception centers in Utah is to do this warm inviting delicious idea.  At a designated table, the bride and grooms family members had all baked some of their favorite family wedding favors at reception centers in utahhomemade cookies.  There were platters, pedestals, and glass bowls full of so many delicious cookies that I imagine guests had a difficult time choosing just one or two.  I’m sure that three or four found their way into the provided white paper sack to take on their way home.  This gestured created a relaxed home kitchen experience and also a genuine feeling of gracious gratitude for the guests taking the time and effort to come celebrate the union of this lovely couple.

We must mention the bride’s beautiful cake.  It was created by Heather from Heather’s Cake Cottage.  It is a sample of simple elegance.  The flowers were done by Chikay who actually is run by Heather’s mother.  They do beautiful work.

Audrey and Zach treated their guests to another fun popular memory maker of a photo booth.  What a fun backdrop they had.  A gentleman named Paul was their DJ for a fun dancing session after the traditional festivities.

Questions to ask Utah Reception Centers Before You Book

Outdoor weddings in Utah at Atrium Weddings
Ask the right questions to find the venue just for you!

The man of your dreams asked, you answered, and now your wedding celebration adventure begins.  After you decide on a date or a couple of dates, you will want to begin your search the many reception centers in Utah for the perfect wedding location that matches your style and budget.   Begin your quest now, so you can book what you want and don’t have to “settle” for a venue that happens to be available for your date.  These are important questions to ask your Salt Lake City wedding venues as you search on the web and visit in person.

1. The first question a bride should ask a reception center is the availability of your chosen date or possible dates.  Save yourself pain by not falling in love with a venue that is not available.

2. What is the maximum number of guests can the venue handle?  If you are planning a sit-down dinner for 150 people, you need to first seek those venues that can host that many.

Breathtaking linens at Western Gardens reception venues in salt lake city3.  What do wedding reception places in Utah provide and what will you need to provide?  Make sure you know what is included for the price you will pay.  Many venues include a lot, some charge for their space only.  Find out!

4. How will you be able to decorate the venue to give it a touch of your own style?  How many color choices will you have to choose from for your linens?  Do they offer stylish centerpieces? Can you hang items from the ceiling?

5. Do you have to use the venue’s own caterers, or can you bring in your own caterer?  Can you self-cater?  Does the venue offer good recommendations for other wedding vendors in a wide range of costs?

Preferred caterer at wedding venues in salt lake city6. What does the facility itself offer?  Does it have a dance floor, bride’s room, groom’s room, children’s room, good sound system, piano, food preparation room, ice machine, and so forth?

7. Does the venue offer a wedding specialist for help in planning and a wedding host for the event itself? Some centers only furnish the space only and offer limited help and guidance as you plan.

Bride at wedding reception centers in salt lake city8. What parking is available for you and your guests?  Does it cost more?  Is it close to the entrance of the reception center?

9.  Does the venue have an alcohol policy?  What is it?  Some Utah wedding locations do not allow alcohol except for champagne.

10. Venue restrictions – Are there any and what are they?  Some venues can not allow open flames.  Are there any city ordinances on time restraints?  Noise restrictions?

There are so many reception centers Utah offers to Utah brides.  Be sure to find the one that will fit your needs and will aid, not deter from, your beautiful wedding day.

Three W’s of Wedding Reception Center Planning – When? Where? and What?

Okay, you’ve decided that you want your wedding celebration at a reception center, rather than in your backyard or the church gymnasium.  The next step of planning your wedding reception can seem like an overwhelming task.  But if you break it down into simple, easy-to-tackle sections, the process becomes exciting and fun.  You’ll find yourself enjoying the journey culminating in an incredible wedding celebration, your final destination.   Here is how I break the tasks down to size.  Don’t forget to use your choice of a central note-taking tool.  A pad of paper works well, or an electronic tool like a smart phone, or tablet of your choice.  Always have this with you as you make plans, it will save your mind and your time in the long run.

I like to break the first part of planning in to the three W’s – When, Where, and What.  They are pretty big and important parts of the planning, but you can figure them all in one sit-down brainstorming session with your fiancé.  Be prepared to possibly make some little changes along the way, but you’ve got to have a starting point.  The When? Where? and What? is the beginning.

First is to decide WHEN you are having your big day.  It is good to have a couple of date possibilities, but knowing this is crucial for the next decision of WHERE.  You don’t want to waste your time looking for that perfect wedding venue unless you have an idea of when your event is to take place. Imagine finally making a choice of where you want your most important event to happen, only to find out that it is already booked for the day you’ve finally decided upon.  Wedding places in Utah book up quickly, so don’t let this first step pass too quickly.  Get your preferences and start the search of your perfect venue that can replicate your dream wedding.

As mentioned above, the WHERE is now in play.  Google your search as specific as you can.  Some suggested keywords to search could be “wedding reception centers” or “wedding venues” and if you want a particular area, add that city.  For example “wedding reception centers Salt Lake City” or “wedding reception centers in Salt Lake City” will help you narrow your quest to more specific options in your area.  Browse those venues that catch your eye and make your list of top places you want to pursue.  Request more information by email, if only to simply test that company’s responsiveness.  A very good first question to ask would be to check on the availability of that venue for the couple of dates you’ve chosen. This could prove very important in the future if you choose to work with them.  Your search will narrow, it is time to go visit the venues you’ve listed as your top possibilities.  Now it’s time to consider the WHAT’s of your quest.

Ice cream is a popular choice at Ivy House Weddings

Third, WHAT are you going to do for your special celebration?  Serve a full course dinner?  Serve only finger foods?  Dance?   Play games?  Serve only your wedding cake?  These are the kind of questions only YOU and your lover can imagine for YOUR special day.

Deciding these three w’s is the first step, then it will be time to do the how’s, but not until these three are complete.  For now, go out and find your dream wedding reception center!  You’ll have plenty to do after you get these three W’s completed!   Reminder!  Don’t forget to keep your wedding writing tool handy!
